Making and shaping the neck

Paralell to the body, I've been working with the neck. Here is what I began with:

I made this "neck blank" while I started the project 10 years ago. By then I had other ideas about how to attach the neck to the body and how I made a truss rod, so some adjustments were made. First of all I had to make a wider slot for the truss rod, as I now have another design (but no pictures of that).
Next I had to shape the neck/body meeting wich will be in 2 degrees angle:

Than I inserted the bolt that fastens the neck to the body. It consists of an "IKEA"-nut and a threaded rod. The nut is inserted into the heel in a 10 mm hole and the rod meets it through a 6 mm hole in 90 degrees angle and is epoxy-gllued to the nut. Than I'll use a common washer and nut from the inside of the body, to mount the neck:

After cutting the neck closer to the final dimensions in the bandsaw I added "wings" to the head:

Here is what it looked like before the final shaping:

My main tools for shaping the neck is my old carving knife (not in the picture), rasp and files. You can also see the veneer of laburnum (guldregn) that I've glued to the head. It covers the seems (the head actually consists of 4 pieces glued together), it adds strength and gives the instrument better looks.

And here is the result:

The final step was to drill the holes for the tuners, but there are no photos of that.
